Now in Paris ...

- Bicentenary of the birth of Charles Darwin
From Thursday February 12 2009
Monkey to man.
This commemorative event will be an opportunity to shed light on life and work of Charles Darwin. Darwin's gift to science biology in particular was an inestimable theoretical treasure; his theory of evolution and natural selection was his crowning achievement.
Born February 12th 1809 in Shrewsbury this naturalist went on to Edinburgh and later Cambridge before taking off around the world on an historical journey on board HMS Beagle. Of this expedition his stint at the Galapagos islands remained one of the single most important events in history as his conclusions would later lead to his theoretical work in biology.
Darwin's The Origin of Species was a groundbreaking work that turned the scientific community on its head (the exhibition will also be the 150-year anniversary of the first publication of this work).
