The key of Montmartre

Où sont les femmes ?

« Où sont les femmes ? », literally « Where are the women ? », is the name of the new exhibition created by Studio Harcourt. This name may remind you something if you have already visited our hotel at the Terrass '', and that you have seen, or why not even have the chance to use our photo booth Harcourt label!

For all the others, it is a photographic studio known mainly for its portraits in black and white, of personalities - often from the world of cinema - or even anonymous. It was created in 1934 in Paris by Cosette Harcourt (real name Germaine Hirschfeld), with Robert Ricci and the brothers Jacques and Jean Lacroix.

Thus created by a woman - moreover, at a time when they did not even have the right to vote - it is therefore quite natural that today Studio Harcourt decided to dedicate an exhibition to you, Ladies!

Until September 30, you will be able to discover or rediscover decades of photographs of women who have left a mark on their era ; always on the same model but characterized by this unique touch of the Studio Harcourt : a touch of elegance and a hint of audacity.

At a time when feminism is more than ever a hot topic, it is nice to be able to admire those who have changed the situation:  writers, scientists, politicians, actresses, artists, sportswomen ... The first French woman to win a Grand Slam tournament, the first woman to head the judicial police, Florence Arthaud, Andrée Putman, Leila Slimani, Francine Leca and many others!
